Professional Development
Partnering with educators to build confidence and a love for teaching math

At DMTI, our goal is to create more confident educators, coaches, and administrators through the highest-quality Professional Development that results in improved math achievement for K-12 students.
We partner with you to provide effective, engaging professional development. We love being in classrooms and working directly with students and teachers - we are even available to provide classroom-based model lessons!

Curriculum-Neutral
Our research-based Professional Development is effective with all curriculum and all standards.
Proven Growth
"We saw growth from implementing the bar model and the strategies we taught them. Roughly 70% of students made between one and two years growth in math (in four weeks!). So from that tool they were already able to make growth on our typical probe."

Professional Development Overview
Embedded Professional Development

Embedded professional development in the classroom during the school year with lesson demonstrations and co-teaching.
Learn what kids really need to know at each stage from Kinder to 8th grade so you can focus on what is most important and effective. It is a progressive formulation of ideas.
With up to 10 visits per school year, you can expect to receive help in various ways:
Summer School & Workshops

Summer Workshops
Each year, DMTI offers summer workshops for teachers to learn how students come to understand mathematics through modeling and language. These multiple day workshops are broken down into different grade levels and rotate through concepts on a three-year cycle:
Summer School Program
Our amazing summer school program provides 2, 4, 6, and 8-week options of DMTI's intervention program. Each unit helps build important foundational skills. Professional development videos provide guidance in how to implement each unit. Our team is also on-site and in classrooms to provide continued training and support.
Unit Study

3-5 weeks focused on the key ideas, models, language, and standards being addressed.
We use a Targeted Assessment using DoK (Depth of Knowledge) with skill level, problem-solving and reasoning questions to understand where students are and where they need to be.
Continued PD (Year 2 & 3)

In the 2nd year our embedded PD focuses more on Measurement, Geometry, and Number.
In year 3 we add Data Analysis, Graphing, and additional activities for teachers.
